I think I’ve read about this, this was a case of a boat which water ballasts failed… it was partly crew mistake and system’s failure… so can’t blame it all on them heh.

The story of that ship appeared in a car magazine a while ago-that ship was carrying a shipment of sevaral thousand Mazdas, hence the connection. For some reason, the ballast tanks only filled on one side. End result-tip over. Car mag said it would have been kinder if it had capsized completely and gone to the bottom. Not only would it have saved them from becoming the butt of international jokes, but they could have just written the whole ship off as “lost at sea”. Instead, it cost them a fortune to get the ship straightened out (without tipping over the OTHER way). Also, tilting over like that does BAD things to the insides of cars, so the whole shipment not only had to be written off, but had to then be offloaded and sent to the scrap crushers.
