Well, there was proper netnews coverage of this, so not photoshopped. Me, I’d have never taken it back to the store, I’d either have a new pet, or more likely, found out its likely origination and arranged to get it back home. Luckily, there are a few wildlife rescue organizations near me which specialize in such matters.
It’s a win when you take it back to the store and they give you money and coupons to keep you happy.
